A couple weeks ago I was contacted to review Aether’s Cone and I jumped at the opportunity. Working by myself all day is at times a little lonely, but at times (like this) super awesome because it means I can jam out as loudly as I want while I work. Note: I do have office neighbors down the hall but one teaches vocal lessons (and the other is the railroad/passing trains) so I don’t really feel the need to be silent ;)
As soon as my Cone came in the mail I got it set up and ready at my office. I’m not exaggerating when I say that this is one cool speaker. From a design standpoint, I’m only stating the obvious that it’s beautiful and the white/silver combo looks perfect on my desk. (very important)
From a functionality standpoint, Cone excels even more! Simple but functional design is my weakness and Aether’s cone completely hits it out of the park (and it’s voice activated, making me feel super high-tech). The sound quality rocks (way better than my iMac speakers), I love that I can either use the built in Rdio smart features or connect via Bluetooth/Airplay to play whatever I’m listening to on my computer/phone/iPad!
The controls are intuitive (twist to skip songs) and the more you talk to it (ex: “play Beyoncé”) the smarter Cone gets as it learns your taste. I’ve always been a firm believer that truly great design is an absence of over-the-top details and just the essentials!
I give Cone a solid A+ rating and I would love to hear what y’all think! Have you already snatched up Aether’s Cone for your office or home? Anyone else a total sucker for perfectly executed modern design?
