As a graphic designer, planning my wedding was been the most fun adventure imaginable! I’m in love with creating memorable details and I started with unique gift boxes for my bridesmaids!
Every piece of the box was intentionally chosen. From the unique cards and DIYed tassels (in my wedding colors of course!) to the hand painted fabric used in the bags, I wanted to create a gift that set the tone for our upcoming wedding. But the very best part? All of my girls said YES!
PACKAGING: I started with simple 12×12 scrapbook paper boxes that I scored on sale at Michael’s for 50% off, then filled them with some simple white tissue paper (that I already had!).
POPPING THE QUESTION: I wanted to ask my girls in a way that was slightly less-than-traditional so I opted for these beautiful paper flowers from BHLDN! Note: I tried DIYing these and I’ll just say that after some not so dainty attempts, it was well worth the money.
WHO, WHAT, WHEN: Of course, as soon as your girlfriend sees this beautiful box they’ll know what it’s for! After they see the flower (or note/card/letter, you can do anything here!) and have a total freak out moment, the reality will hit: ‘wait, so when is this event that I’m committing to?’ It’s both good manners and solid planning on your part to include a little insert with the critical wedding details, most importantly the day and time.
Being the over-planner that I am, I went ahead and included the following in my bridesmaid gifts:
- Day, location, and a little note that I’ll be providing day-of treats
- Wedding colors
- A super cheesy rhyme that I made myself
- What they’ll be wearing
- The wedding hashtag (that I’ve already changed twice… whoops!)
SAYING THANK YOU: I wanted to give my girls a little gift (which felt kind of like a down payment) because I know that being a bridesmaid takes time and money and listening to me being stressed before we get to the truly magical wedding day! I opted for BAGGU leather clutches that are super versatile, and then added ombre tassels that I made myself via this tutorial.
PULLING IT TOGETHER: Last but not least, Michelle from the Love, Mich Collection created custom bags from fabric that I designed! It was such a fun touch to not only pull together the colors and aesthetic, but also give them a special something with their name and a pretty nail polish inside!
NEED SOME GIFT IDEAS?
I have SO many things from our wedding to share that I think ‘Wedding Wednesday’ is going to be my favorite day of the week for a while!
I’d love to hear from y’all! How did you ask your ladies to stand by your side?
