Within the first week of wedding planning, and seeing my fifteen spreadsheets, David asked how he could help. I didn’t really have any ideas, so he suggested taking on the honeymoon and I gladly agreed! He did everything on his own and decided to keep the location a surprise. One less thing for me to think (and stress) about – a perfect plan! I may or may not have scream-squealed in the airport bag check line when I found out we were headed to the Sandals Ochi Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica!
From the pick up at the Jamaican airport (one of the amenities that comes standard with Sandals) to check in, every minute of our stay was perfect and stress free. The BEST thing a newly married couple can ask for after months of wedding planning.
I stayed far, far away from social media for most of the trip, and y’all it was just so refreshing. I took a gazillion photos (mostly on my phone) but I wanted to stay in the moment with my new husband and soak up the beautiful island!
SANDALS OCHI FAVORITES:
1 – SO many places to eat and drink, all inclusive!
The food was delicious, the service was awesome, and who can say no to a swim-up bar?
2- All of the activities.
So many ways to stay busy (SCUBA, snorkeling, boating, paddle boarding, drinking games) and plenty of places to just chill out too (pools, beaches, cabanas, lounges).
3 – The intimate vibe.
Despite all the other guests, the property is so large that you can still easily find places to sneak away. This mini pool was completely surrounded by trees and you had to take a secret path to get to it!
4 – The view from our window.
Basically David crushed it with the honeymoon planning. Which I told him about 10000000 times during the trip.
5 – Having dinner literally on the water.
This was by far my favorite restaurant on the resort property! It is by reservation only and you eat on a dock out in the middle of the water. Waves gently crashing, the salty smell of the ocean, tasty food, yummy drinks, and your favorite person in the world… basically that is what my heaven looks like. Bonus points: they played our first dance song as we were finishing up dessert and I cried the biggest happy tears. (‘Angel’ by Jack Johnson)
We had the BEST honeymoon and I think that’s largely due to the amazing hospitality and all-inclusive nature of the resort. 10/10 highly, highly recommend Sandals Ochi! I’m already hoping we can go back for an anniversary trip. Is that a thing people do?!
Where did you go (or are planning to go) for your honeymoon?
