This year, David and I hosted our families at our house for Christmas. It was absolutely wonderful being able to fill the home we worked so hard on with the people we love so much!
We’ve officially reached month four of pregnancy, and I’m pretty darn excited to get to the upcoming halfway point. David gave me the most comfortable maternity leggings I have ever worn in my life (here, if you want to check them out) and all-in-all my symptoms weren’t too bad during Christmastime. Yay for the second trimester!
The last couple weeks have definitely seen an improvement on the nausea front. I’m taking half of the medicine I used to to control it and feeling totally great – thank goodness! It really is amazing how less nausea makes you feel so much more human again.
I think the growing pains have started. My stomach/hips/Sciatic nerve were definitely giving me some ‘ouch!’ moments during the Christmas Eve service. I don’t think the discomfort is dehydration related or anything like that, but if y’all have any tips for managing the aches, I’m all ears!
I’m excited to share that I’m feeling that second trimester glow, mostly in the form of so.much.happiness. Feeling healthier (and being past the scary miscarriage period) means that I can relax a little bit more into this pregnancy. Christmas totally wore me out though, so I’m looking forward to spending the next few days just relaxing and picking up around the house.
My nails are growing SO fast and my acne has totally cleared up. I’ve also switched up my skincare routine a bit for the winter since I needed more moisture. Right now, I’m using the products in the TULA Discovery Kit plus their exfoliating mask, and the results are phenomenal. Before trying anything I had my nurse check through the ingredients list and she gave it a thumbs up. I can’t be sure if it’s the amazing products or my hormones that cleared up my skin, but I think this line is 100% worth a try for all skin types. Plus, if you use my link (here!) you can get 20% off your first purchase and I get credit! Hooray!
Right now I’m reading Do Chocolate Lovers Have Sweeter Babies? The Surprising Science of Pregnancy by Jena Pincott and I cannot recommend it enough! It’s funny, fascinating, and a really cool break from all of the weekly “what to expect” type books. Plus, spoiler alert, chocolate lovers DO have sweeter babies… so I’ll pretend all the fudge I’ve been eating is okay ;)
I stumbled upon a children’s book titled A B to JAY-Z and thought it was such a cute gift idea. “If you’re havin’ alphabet problems I feel bad for you son…” Ha!
Unrelated to pregnancy, we finished our master bathroom remodel this week!!! I just need to finish up some decorating (curtains, floor mats, cabinet knobs) and then we’ll be DONE. David sealed the tile/grout a couple days ago so I’m super excited to finally use our pretty shower!
Also in not-pregnancy-related news… I think I’m going to chop my hair off (to below the shoulder-ish) and donate it to locks for love. I wear it up in a bun pretty much every day and it is just SO much work. See ya later long, heavy hair!
We have our anatomy ultrasound on January 17 (2 days before my birthday!) and I’m so excited to see the little guy/gal. While we don’t plan to find out the gender, it’ll be comforting to make sure everything is progressing well!
